Architecture Aptitude Test for B.Arch From IITs

Only students who have qualified the JEE Mains are allowed to sit for JEE Advanced. If a student wants to join B.Arch in IIT Kahargpur and IIT Roorkee , he/she has to first clear JEE Mains Parer 1 (not Paper 2 ; Paper 2 is only for admission to B.Arch in NITs and SPAs). Also, Only those candidates who would have given B. Arch program (available at IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee) as one of their choices while filling their choices will be eligible to take the Architecture Aptitude Test.


JEE Advanced 2017 Qualified Students who are aspiring for Admission to Architecture Programs in IITs are hereby informed that  Candidates desirous of joining the B. Arch. (Architecture) courses has to pass in an Aptitude Test to be conducted only at the 7 zonal IITs .

However the seat allotment will be done based on the category wise All India Rank in the JEE Advanced  .The test will consist of one paper of three hours duration .

Question papers for the Architecture Aptitude Test will be in English only.

Syllabus for this test is given in APPENDIX-10. Candidates must register online at the JEE Advanced portal for this Aptitude Test.

Students are advised to update themselves from the JEE (Advanced) web page.

No separate Architecture Aptitude Test admit card will be issued to them. They have to bring the JEE (Advanced)-2017 original admit card to the Examination Hall.

A candidate is interested in pursuing B. Arch. in IIT. What procedure does the candidate have to follow to appear in the Architecture Aptitude Test?

First, the candidate has to give B. Arch (available in IIT Kharagpur and Roorkee) as the choice while filling the choice sheet online at the JEE (Advanced) portal. Additionally, the page on which the candidate will view the result of JEE (Advanced) – 2014, will have a link to follow in case they are interested to write Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT). The link will take you to a page where you will be asked to registered for AAT.

If a candidate is interested to write Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT), do they get a separate Admit Card for that?

No.  The candidate has to use the original Admit Card which they have have received during writing the JEE (Advanced) .


When will the result for Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) be declared?

The result will be declared at the end of June and will be displayed in the JEE web site.

Do the candidates qualifying in the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) get separate ranks?

No. There is no separate ranking based on the result of AAT. Seat allocation will be done only on the basis of AIR obtained in JEE (Advanced).
